Events
We hold a number of events over the course of the year…
Our events cover a range of formats. Some of our events are for volunteer training and encouragement, whilst others are social engagements designed to bring people associated with the charity together for a chance to bond and enjoy spending time together.
Due to COVID-19, we are running a reduced events programme
Opening of the Community Garden
On Saturday 28th of August around 60 people gathered at The Kings Centre in Chessington to celebrate the opening of the Sharing Lives Community Garden. It was a great time for our beneficiaries to gather together along with their befrienders and other friends of the charity. We enjoyed tea and cakes and as part of the celebration our chair of trustees Andy Wyatt talked about what true friendship looks like. It was then followed by Sir Ed Davey MP giving a speech and then cutting the ribbon to officially open the garden.
The Sunday school at Kings Church Chessington had donated an apple tree to be part of the garden and it was a pleasure to see two boys representing the groups plant the tree with a helping hand from Sir Ed.
The garden looked beautiful with some lovely flowering plants and the vegetable patch brimming with beans already! We hope that the garden will be a place where people can come to tend the plants and end enjoying gardening projects alongside those who want a time of reflection ‘stepping out of the buzz of life’ for maybe just a short time.
